The Authority has been working with the Royal Oman Police to develop a General Electricity Emergency Plan that where implemented will determine the manner of coordination between the ROP and other relevant bodies. The Plan is expected to be issued in 2008 after consultation with concerned parties. Oman Electric Standards (“OES”) "The OES were issued originally by the Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) later (MHEW)."
The standards were updated in 1995, in 2005 and following the restructuring of the electricity sector in the Sultanate, OES ownership passed to the Authority. The Authority is in the process of reviewing the existing OES which will be finished in 2008. it is expected that some changes and updates will be required to the OES as part of the recommendation of this high level review to update the OES to the latest international standards and practices and also to address some specific issues related to Oman’s operational conditions and environment.
